2012 Spring Meetings

March 16-17, 2012
Socorro, NM, USA

Welcome to 2012!!!!!
Below is the 2012 March Meetings Registration Formboth as a MS-Word Document (for those that want to use their computer to fill-out and digitally store their registration) and an Adobe PDF Document (for those that want to fill out their registration  by hand). The Registration Deadline is March 7th.

Distribution for the Registration forms will be via e-mail, NM-IOOFs websites & the Rebekah Reporter—i.e., there will be no snail mailing of the Registration Forms by the Host Lodge. Those that don’t have an internet service will have to rely on their lodge Secretaries &/or their members to provide copies of the Registration Forms.

Sessions: To download a detailed program click here: March Mtg Program Download

  • Friday Morning: NM Canton #1
  • Friday Afternoon: NM Grand Encampment
  • Saturday Morning: Open Joint Session
  • Saturday Afternoon:
    • Grand Lodge
    • Rebekah Assembly
  • Sunday Morning: Recreation Area Board of Directors Public Meeting

The GL &RA Saturday’s sessions will be at its usual location but now that that the Rancher’s Steakhouse is under new management it is now the “Bodega Hamburger Co. & Lounge” (Same Place; NEW Name)
They are giving us the same arrangements & meal prices that the “Rancher’s Steakhouse” gave us last year.
Note: They have also opened up the public dinning room so those that would like to order off their menu rather than the meals that are being offered on the Registration Form have the option of doing so and paying for their meals at the register.

I had a Knights of Pythias Lodge “walk-through” with Jennifer, the new City Visitor Center Director. She assured me that, unlike last year, the heaters will be operational for our Friday & Sunday use of the Lodge.  I requested 8 tables & 50 chairs for the Friday & Saturday meetings. (Deborah, the old director is now one of the proprietors of the Bodega Burger Co. & Lounge and the reason we got last year’s pricing for the facilities & meals)
Upon last year’s agreement with the Canton a $3 registration fee for them will be on the Registration Form and is to be used for an “after-meeting” on-site Deli lunch, so those attending the afternoon Session of the Grand Encampment will not have to go “off-site” for lunch.

The Saturday morning Joint Session has been moved to the West Ballroom since tables and chairs will be already set-up for our lunch buffet.  This will allow the Rebekahs to set-up their East Ballroom for their afternoon session in the morning allowing for a smoother transformation between sessions.

The Rebekah Assembly of New Mexico was instituted on October 7, 1907 by the Odd Fellows Grand Lodge of the Territory of New Mexico.  There were 11 lodges at the time and 5 of those lodges are still active today.

The voting members of the Rebekah Assembly are made up of Past Noble Grands from the individual lodges.  Each lodge is entitled to one representative for each 50 members on their roll.  The Assembly meets each year in September beginning on the fourth Friday of the month and ending at noon on Sunday.

Next Annual Session: September 23 - 26, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM.

There are currently 11 Rebekah lodges in New Mexico with both men and women as members.  We sponsor Theta Rho Girls Clubs and have a Theta Rho Assembly for girls ages 8 – 21.

We provide scholarships for graduates who have completed their freshman year in an accredited college or university.  Scholarships are also available for Technical  and/or Trade Schools.

Our campground is located in the Manzano Mountains south of Albuquerque and is available by reservation.

We are now incorporated as “Independent Order of Odd Fellows Rebekah Assembly of New Mexico, Inc.” and are a non-profit fraternal order (FTC 501c(8)) under the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Our lodges have various fund raisers to support humanitarian projects in their communities as well as
supporting the projects (http://www.ioof.org/working_programs.htm) of
The Sovereign Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows ( http://www.ioof.org/ )

Rebekah Creed

(By: Lois Sparks, Mariposa, CA)

I am a Rebekah.

I believe in
   The Fatherhood of God,
   The Brotherhood of man, and
   The Sisterhood of women.

I believe in the watch‑words of our Order ‑
   Friendship, Love and Truth.

Friendship ‑ is like a golden chain that ties our hearts together.

Love ‑ is one of our most precious gifts, the more you give, the more you receive.

Truth ‑ is the standard by which we value people.  It is the foundation of our society.

I believe that my main concern should be my God, my family and my friends.

Then we should reach out to our community and the World, for in God's eyes we are all brothers and sisters.

I am a Rebekah.
